The Computer Science Program at Oakton provides students the strong foundation they need to succeed in any number of computer-related degrees and certificate programs. For students who intend to pursue a four-year degree in computers, our associate of science with an emphasis in computer science allows for the smoothest transition to a four-year college or university.
The program is designed for students who have not yet decided upon a specific four-year college or university. Once a transfer school is selected, students are strongly encouraged to consult the Office of Advising, Transitions and Student Success and the transfer institution’s catalog to select courses that will meet both Oakton and transfer institution requirements.
For more information on course selection or program-specific advising, contact the program coordinator Ivan Temesvari at [email protected]. Part-time students should also consult the Office of Advising, Transitions, and Student Success for part-time pre-major recommendations.
Oakton participates in the Illinois Articulation Initiative (IAI), a statewide agreement that allows the transfer of the completed curriculum to any participating college or university in Illinois.
Students who know where they intend to transfer can check iTransfer to determine the transferability of a particular course.
