Oakton collaborates with partner high schools across the district area to offer college-level classes to eligible, driven high school students. Our dual credit courses are taught in high school classrooms by Oakton-approved high school teachers.
Oakton strives to provide students, instructors and high school personnel with the resources and support that empower students to successfully complete college-level courses in high school and successfully transition to college. In 2022, more than 3,600 high school students enrolled in the Oakton Dual Credit program, taught at a dozen high schools in our district.

Oakton's Concurrent Enrollment Program allows high school juniors and seniors with a minimum cumulative GPA of C or higher to take one college class per semester on one of our campuses or online. Concurrent enrollment applications must be submitted no later than one week prior to the start date of the class.
If you want the course to also count toward a high school requirement (as dual credit), get permission from your high school before you take the class. When you complete the class, send your transcript to the high school to get the course posted on your high school record and count toward high school graduation requirements.
This is a great way to explore your interests or start earning credit toward a degree pathway or pre-major.
